Teaching Training in STEM and Educational Technology Using Field Experience
at a Community-Based Organization

Highlights
Piloted and evaluated a model for teacher training for using educational technologies in STEM that includes field experiences at a community-based organization.
Developed a proposal for a new ongoing course, ETEC 529 Educational Technologies in Science, Engineering, and Mathematics, which was approved.
Collaborated with faculty in science education to propose a project to develop and evaluate multiple models for using informal learning experiences in science education. This project has now been funded and began in January, 2015. (Principal Investigator: Dr. James Kisiel, co-Investigators: Dr. Lisa MartinHansen, Dr. Stephen Adams, and Dr. Paul Narguizian).
Authored or co-authored 4 presentations at meetings of professional organizations, 1 presentation in the community, a story for the CSULB College of Education web page, and 5 presentations at CSU Long Beach.
As part of the Digital Ambassador program, collaborated with other CSU faculty with interests in STEM via periodic meetings online and via a face-to-face meeting at the Computer Using Educators Conference (Palm Springs).
